Royal Liverpool

Royal Liverpool, known as Hoylake, was established in 1869 and is the second-oldest seashore links course in England. Hoylake hosted its first Open Championship in 1897, followed by nine more from 1897 to 1967. In 2006, following a 39-year break and an improvement from Donald Steel, the tournament returned, with a remarkable win by Tiger Woods.  Royal Liverpool is firmly back on the global map and a regular fixture on the Open Championship rota today. It is consistently ranked among the best 20 courses in the UK and the top 50 globally.

Hillside

Situated on a stunning links site between Blackpool and Liverpool, near the well-known Royal Birkdale in the Northwest of England, Hillside Golf Club is a little-known but excellent course.  The first nine holes run southwestward along the level area next to the railroad tracks, while the back nine wind through valley-like passageways surrounded by some of the most untamed dunes on the planet. The two professional events to take place at Hillside are the British Masters in 2019 and the PGA Championship held by the European Tour in 1982.  "The back nine holes are the best in Britain," Greg Norman said in an unsolicited remark to the club following the 1982 PGA Championship.

Royal Lytham & St Annes

Lytham has Hosted The Open 11 times, 2 Ryder Cups & 5 Women's British Opens. Situated 10 miles north of Royal Birkdale on 'England's Golf Coast, Royal Lytham and St Annes is the most northerly English course on The Open rota, with Blackpool Tower visible in the distance. It is regularly rated among the top 60 golf courses globally and in the top 10 in the UK. The only course on The Open Championship rota that is deemed more difficult is Carnoustie. Despite the generally even terrain, the course presents challenges due to its pot bunkers, sandhills, and rocky terrain in addition to its firm and quick greens. In 1926, Bobby Jones emerged victorious in the inaugural Open Championship held here. Additionally, in 1979, at the age of 22, the legendary Seve Ballesteros made his international debut by winning his first Open Championship.

Formby

Formby is a championship links course that boasts a distinctive blend of mature sand dunes and pinewoods. It is widely considered to be the most beautiful course along this breathtaking links coastline in northeastern England.  Although Formby provides park-like protection from the wind unlike other links courses in the area, this is by no means an easy track due to its undulating fairways, strategic bunkers and rough that is strewn with heather and very punishing.  Jose Maria Olazabal won the 1984 British Amateur Championship at Formby and when it made a third appearance in 2009, the youngest champion in history was created - The 16-year-old Matteo Manassero.

Royal Birkdale

Having hosted more championship and international events since World War II than any other course in the world, Royal Birkdale is possibly the most decorated golf club in the nation. It is situated on England's Golf Coast in the country's Northwest, directly south of the seaside town of Southport.  Well known for fairness due to it's fairways which are arranged in the level troughs between the tall dunes.  A drive hit down the fairway at royal Birkdale rarely finds the rough.  That being said, it is difficult without being overly penal but can be a torrid experience when the wind is up.

Southport & Ainsdale

The Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club is situated in the northwest region of England and was founded in 1906 and designed by the renowned James Braid.  This championship links golf course is extremely challenging. with its coastal location and has plenty to offer everyone, including stunning views, a sea breeze, and an abundance of heather and gorse.   Southport and Ainsdale has hosted its fair share of golf competitions and the biggest being The Ryder Cup.
