ST GEORGES.jpg

Royal St Georges

Royal St Georges Hosted The 2021 Open for the 15th time which was won by Collin Morikawa.  Nothing short of a masterpiece, the Royal St George's golf course winds its way through the towering dunes of Sandwich Bay. One of the most magnificent views in all of golf may be seen when you gaze out over the golden sunlight-drenched sand dunes at Royal St. George's, where the cresting waves of Pegwell Bay crash on the shore.  For many years, this stunning links layout has been regarded as the greatest course in England, and it will probably stay that way for years to come. The enormous prestige of the club which earned it royal status from King Edward VII is a must-play golf course.

Royal Cinque Ports

Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club is consistently listed among the top 100 golf courses in the UK and Ireland. Over its illustrious history, this previous two-time Open Championship host has attracted the best players in the world.   Royal Cinque Ports is considered a very strong challenge at over 7300 yards off the tips and a par-72, mainly because of the tough back nine that always plays right into the teeth of the dominant south-westerly wind. Aim for a good score on the front nine and be prepared for tight hanging lies from the fairways.

Princes

Striking a rare balance between modern ambience and historic charm, Prince's Golf Club offers 27 Holes of outstanding championship links golf in an idyllic coastal setting. Having undergone a significant redevelopment since 2017, the club held the prestigious 2023 Women's Amateur Championship and hosted the Final Qualifying for The Open Championship from 2018 to 2022. The club is now ever-present in all Top 100 Great Britain and Ireland rankings and is embarking on perhaps its most ambitious period in modern history since hosting the 1932 Open Championship, famously won by Gene Sarazen.

Sunningdale Old Course

Sunningdale is without doubt one of England's most prestigious and revered inland golfing venues.  The Old Course is today considered one of the greatest courses in the World and is regularly found in the top 30 of the world’s rankings. Sunningdale’s Old Course was designed by twice winner of The Open Championship, Willie Park Junior and opened in 1901.  Bobby Jones had great fondness for the Old Course. In 1926 during qualifying for The Open Championship (which he went onto win at Royal Lytham and St. Annes) Jones shot 66-68. Regarded for many years as the ‘perfect round’ the 66 consisted of 33 shots, 33 putts and no hole was played in more than four and on ten holes, the shot to the green was played with a two iron or wood. Jones said afterwards: “I wish I could take this course home with me.”

The Grove

The Grove’s golfing complex opened to a fanfare of publicity, having been designed by Kyle Phillips, who shot to fame with his incredible creation at Kingsbarns. His terrific layout at The Grove has lived up to its billing, and successfully hosted the world’s best professionals for the American Express World Golf Championship in 2006 which was won by former world no. 1 Tiger Woods.  With championship conditions and views of the Hertfordshire countryside, you’d never guess you’re a mere 18 miles from central LondonThe 7,152 yard course is a resort style course that you may think would be more at home in America, with its massive, undulating greens and expanses of sand.

"As you walk down the fairway of life you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round."

- Ben Hogan
