Ballybunion

Ballybunion Golf Club is set amidst dunes on the untamed Atlantic coast of South West Ireland. The Old Course at Ballybunion Golf Club, which boasts 36 breathtaking holes of links golf and is widely known worldwide, has been a popular destination for tourists for many years and is regarded as the best in the Republic of Ireland. Although it is shorter in distance, the much more recent Cashen Course, created by Trent Jones Sr, is nevertheless a fantastic test because of its small greens, narrow fairways, and massive sand dunes.
Waterville
Golf was first played at Waterville in 1889, but the stunning links of today were established in 1973. American John "Jack" Mulcahy, who was born in Ireland, had the idea to build the world's most testing golf course. He enlisted the assistance of renowned links architect Eddie Hackett and his close friend Claude Harmon, who was the head professional at Winged Foot Golf Club and a previous Masters champion. More recently Tom Fazio was brought in to do a full renovation and make the course more playable for all levels of golfer to enjoy who also totally renovated the clubhouse making Waterville now among the best golf destinations in Ireland

Old Head
Similar to a diamond-shaped peninsula of land protruding over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean, Old Head is an amazing piece of golf real estate. With breathtaking views and breaking waves approximately 300 feet below, the 180 acres of courses and practice area are framed by 40 acres of pristine cliffs. The quality and service standards are outstanding from the minute you enter, which is why this place is known as "The Old Head Experience." A warm-up range, putting green, and short game practice area are among the amenities. The clubhouse, which offers breathtaking views of the course and the Atlantic Ocean beyond, is also quite remarkable. Old Head Golf Links is a par-72 course that stretches from the ladies' tees at 5400 yards to more than 7100 yards from the tip. It features five par-5s, five par-3s, and eight par-4s.
Tralee
Since 1896, golf has been played in Tralee, first on a 9-hole course that was located not far from the present location. Arnold Palmer was hired in 1984 to design a brand-new, 18-hole links course that has since garnered international recognition. Located about 20 minutes from the town of Tralee on a strip of land surrounded on three sides by the Atlantic Ocean, this Arnold Palmer design is renowned for its breathtaking surroundings and is regarded as Palmer's masterpiece. After completing the course Arnold Palmer is credited with saying, "I designed the first nine but surely God designed the back nine." After visiting Tralee, it's difficult to argue with that assessment.

The European Club
Situated amidst cascading dunes and with views of the sea from nearly every hole, The European is among the longest links, at little less than 7500 yards from the tips. Fortunately, there are an abundance of tee boxes to select from. Tiger Woods holds the course record with a score of 67, and Rory won the Irish Amateur championship. Many champions have played here. Padraig Harrington won the Irish PGA the week before he won the Open Championship, setting himself up for two wins here. This is a memorable and exciting course with a large diversity of holes, five of which are extremely near to the water. In fact, players are frequently found on the beach looking for their lost balls.
County Louth
Known as "Baltray," this highly regarded links course is currently rated as one of the top 5 courses in Ireland. This award-winning golf club is ideally situated in the historic Boyne valley area on Ireland's east coast, just 45 minutes from Dublin Airport and less than an hour from the city center. Established in 1892, Baltray has a rich history and a well-deserved reputation for turning out some of Ireland's best players. The course was redesigned in 1938 by golf architects Molly Gourlay and Tom Simpson. This championship links, a par 72 that measures 7,031 yards from the back tees, is renowned for offering one of the most equitable and pure tests of links golf anywhere in the world. This is the links course that former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley loves. He says, It's just a great test. All the holes run in different directions, so you have a different exam paper on each hole”.

Portmarnock
Founded in 1894, Portmarnock Golf Club has hosted several Irish Opens, the Walker Cup, the Irish Amateur Close Championship, and the British Amateur Championship. It is often rated among the best golf courses in the world.
The links are barely 10 miles north of Dublin on a small tongue of shallow duneland on the shore. Five-time Open Champion Tom Watson said it best when he said, "There are no tricks or nasty surprises, only an honest, albeit searching test of shot making skills."
"As you walk down the fairway of life you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round."
- Ben Hogan
